Hello and welcome to our very first Christmas gathering on our Chickaniddy blog! To bring in the Christmas cheer we are celebrating 12 days of Gift Wrapping for Christmas. Over this next 12 days I will be sharing fun videos, free printables, and all my gift wrapping secrets.
Years ago I worked at a party store and to this day... it was one of my FAVORITE jobs. I blew up balloons and wrapped presents. Honestly I could have worked there forever! While working there I became quite good at wrapping presents and, as crazy as it sounds, there really is a right way to wrap a gift. So to kick off my first class I am sharing how to gift wrap with perfection. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer them for you.
Hey all, Pam with ya today. So I guess you might know what today is, but there is also another event which is taking place today as well... let me give you a hint with my card...
You guessed it!! It's Heidi's birthday today! So help me to wish Heidi the BEST, HAPPIEST birthday today!!!
Heidi, in honor of your birthday today, the craft team has made some cards for you.... some with fall themed cards just like the season you were born in and some cheerful, and happy just like your personality!! We all hope that you have a wonderful day! Missy created this awesome spider web! This reminds me of trick or treating as it is so fun! The girl, with the leaves, cut out works perfectly!
Carson created this patch themed card for you! Don't you love the way she used the pumpkins! The colors look fabulous together.
Amy made this birthday card reminding us that your birthday is on the 31st. I love including dates in birthday cards!
The next card was made by Erin and reminds me of jeans on a crisp, fall day. Great idea for an autumn time birthday! And love the enamel heart addition to this card!
Leigh's card is great for celebrating and sharing the beauty of autumn and combining that with a birthday!
Tessa's card is so fun!!! It has such a fun pattern on it and has something else on it... Heidi's age. Heidi is still a super young person to me. Oh to be 33 again!
Allie shares this Fall birthday card which features this really cool pattern. I adore this so much!
The next card was created by Cassandra. What I love about this is the colors she chose, Green, light blue and yellow. So festive for a birthday card!
Meghann created this next breathtaking card. It features a gorgeous cake and candles and still has the feel of fall! Love this.
Our next card is by Melinda. What I absolutely love about this is the "H" for Heidi and for the word happy! What a COOL idea!
For our last card, Tyra knocked it out of the park with this amazing birthday card. The colors are so eye catching!
Do you love gold as much as I do right now? If you do... you are going to LOVE what our Amanda Coleman made for today's post. It's so pretty and could be used for wedding favors or a really special birthday gift. Amanda said this:
"When I first held a piece of gold foil paper from Chickaniddy Crafts I just about fell out of my seat. It is the perfect weight for die cutting and looks like real gold. I knew the gold foil paper would make fabulous flowers, so I put a few together and then waited for an idea to come together. I ended up pairing it with burlap to make a trendy wedding favor. To make the bag, I stitched together a couple pieces of burlap. Pretty easy".
Supplies: Goldie Lox CN14SP001, Twirly Girly 6x6 pad TG14PO01, Tea Party Twirly Girly TG14OS03; Flower and leaf die (Avery Elle); Brad (American Crafts); Gold pen (Faber Castell); Burlap; Various ribbons
"To make the entire flower embellishment, I die cut and assembled the flower and attached the die cut leaves. I wrote the sentiment on a strip of paper and combined it with several coordinating strips of ribbon. I attached everything with a regular ol' staple and adhered it to the back of the flower".
"I secured the individual petals of the flower together with a rhinestone brad. To add dimension to the flower, I gently curled back the petals with a pair of craft tweezers. I chose the sentiment for richer or poorer because I thought it summed up the contrast between the burlap and gold. Have a great day! Amanda"
Umm... isn't this so pretty? Thanks Amanda for out doing yourself once again. I think we should officially start calling her AMANDA THE AMAZING! What do you all think?!
Today we have another special treat for you, but this time it's a VIDEO from our talented Friend... Jen Gallacher. It's a fun video, because she shares some really great close ups of the twirly Girly collection and her step by steps to make this beautiful layout.
Here are a few of Jennifer's tip about the layout:
"I centered the 12x12" design of the foundation paper on white cardstock and then cut it out so the design would still be centered in the middle of my layout. By layering cut out pieces, patterned paper, and stickers, I created a feminine cluster of items that help draw attention to the photo. I focused on one color photo and then three additional black and white photos that help to tell the story. You can watch the start-to-finish scrapbook process video to see how I put this beautiful layout together".
Thanks Jen for the awesome video and playing with our goodies!
Today I have a fun Friday treat! We were so lucky to have the very talented Betsy Veldman design a few cards for us when putting together our CHA team. She was so kind to make another 2 cards for the booth and guess what? She has sent in another two cards. It's safe to say that I'm a "Betsy Fan" (lol I should make that into a T-shirt and wear it to CHA Summer) and I know that many of you are as well. Check out these two amazing cards she made. They are so dreamy.
Date Night Dance School paper; Date Night Back Woods Lovin’ paper; Date Night 12x12 Sticker sheet; Date Night Stamps; Gold metallic paper; Date Night enamel hearts; Date Night brads; Other: vellum, white embossing powder, chevron die
"I love the Chickaniddy metallic papers - they add such a modern, glamorous touch! I used one of my favorite dies here to cut the chevron background from the gold metallic cardstock. I paired it with a few of the great papers from the Date Night collection. I stamped the leaves from the Date Night stamps onto vellum and heat embossed them with white powder. The sentiment is also from the Date Night stamp set".
Twirly Girly Birthday Girl paper; Twirly Girly Never Grow Up paper; Twirly Girly Banner Stickers; Twirly Girly Tag Stickers; Twirly Girly brads; Twirly Girly 12 x 12 Stickers
"Again, I just love these metallic papers! Here I used some circle dies the the gold metallic to create a sort of bokeh effect on this card…it was a perfect match for the Birthday Girl paper from the Twirly Girly collection! I sprinkled on a few star stickers and enamel hearts to finish it off".
If you missed the Video I did on our Specialty Foil paper... here it is again:
When I was a little girl I knew that every time my birthday came around, my Mother would plan a party for me. She would make me the coolest cake and I got to help decorate the house. Now that I'm all grown up, I kinda am obsessed with Birthdays and make them over the top fun. I mean just ask Mr. Sonboul and he will say that I get a little nutty over the day. So when I opened my email and saw this card I thought "Talk about a party on a card"! The wildly talented Heidi Van Laar made this card and she had some fun things to say about it:
"I started with the Twirly Girly birthday Girl paper, which by the way is one of my favorite pieces of patterned paper maybe ever! Minty green diagonal stripes with a sprinkling of confetti dots...yes please!! I added some circles punched from the yummy gold foil paper Goldie Lox and a few brads to take the confetti element one step further. I then added a scallop along the edge and backed it with a subtle gray cardstock".
Supplies: Paper (Twirly Girly Birthday Girl, Twirly Girly Grandma's Quilt), Twirly Girly Brads, Twirly Girly Mini Sticker Sentiments, Twirly Girly Sticker Sheet, Goldie Lox, white cardstock, gray cardstock, circle dies, cirlcle punches, scallop punch, corner rounder
"The focal point was super easy thanks to the super cute present found on the Twirly Girly Sticker Sheet. I simply backed it with a couple of die cut circles and added a sentiment I created by combining a Brad a Mini Sticker Sentiment".
Oh man. Did she ever take the confetti element one step further! Doesn't this make you want to put on some music and dance around opening big beautifully wrapped gifts, with your name on it??? Thanks Heidi for sharing this fiesta of a card! I know I personally LOVED it!
