Love it or hate it, back-to-school time is here, and nothing gets kids excited for school quite like new school supplies. Help your kids organize those supplies at home by creating an easy, upcycled desk set.
I upcycled various items from around the house to create this flowery and feminine desk set. The pencil cup, Post-it note holder, and notebook use only two sheets of patterned paper and don't require any special tools. If you don't have an eyelet setter, bind the notebook together with some well-placed staples.
To make the notebook, I trimmed two 5"x6" pieces of paper. I wanted a 1" binding, so I cut a 2 1/8"x6" piece of paper and scored it at 1" on each side. I filled the notebook with 10 pieces of 5"x6" printer paper.
I added some decorative paper to the corners and rounded the corners with my corner punch. I punched all of the layers of the notebook with a hole punch and bound the notebook with eyelets.
I covered a regular, old soup can with patterned paper to make a coordinating pencil cup.
To finish the set, I made a notepad holder by covering the bottom half of a chipboard jewelry box with patterned paper.
Happy back to school!
